The Story

You have probably crossed it without knowing what it was.

The Tañon Strait runs 160 kilometres between Negros and Cebu, narrow enough in the south to see both shores at once. In 1998 the whole of it was declared protected, more than 5,000 square kilometres, and it has been the largest marine protected area in the Philippines ever since. Eleven species of marine mammals breed, feed and rest in it.

The spinner dolphins are the ones people come for. Boats leave Bais before sunrise and go out to meet them, and the pod arrives when it feels like arriving. They spin on the way up and land flat, over and over, for no reason anyone has ever been able to prove.

The Flip Club Tee is named for that move. The flip. A reminder that joy is a legitimate way to move through the world, and that sometimes the best available option is to leap, spin, and land in the same water laughing.
